OKLAHOMA CITY - The Capitol Hill athletic department announced the hiring of Nick Pettit as the new Site Athletic Coordinator this past week.
Bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the role, Pettit arrives at Capitol Hill with a vast experience in coaching and teaching. He's spent the last three years coaching boys soccer, and serving as the Assistant Athletic Director and Special Education Teacher at Deer Creek High School. He's been with the Antlers for a total of eight years with a previous stint from 2018-22 as well. In his time coaching with Deer Creek, the boys soccer team had 1 academic state championship, 1 state semifinal appearance, and 4 quarterfinal appearances. He has coached 10 All-State athletes in his tenure.
Prior to his stint at Deer Creek, Pettit served as the Assistant Athletic Director of Operations at Southern Nazarene University. While at SNU, Pettit started various events from Special Olympics Days for Football and Basketball, Shoe Drives for Cleats 4 Kids, and other student engagement nights.
Nick graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 2012, where he played 4 years of soccer. He helped lead the Bison to the Round of 16 in the 2010 NAIA National Tournament. After graduation, he was an assistant coach for the Bison from 2012-15. He helped lead the men's soccer team during the transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II. In 2015, he took over the men's soccer program at Southwest Baptist University until 2018. During his coaching career there, he coached 9 All-Conference players, 1 NSCAA All-Region Player, 2 CoSIDA All-Region players.
Pettit has also coached club soccer for Norman Celtic and Oklahoma Energy. He is married to his wife Sherry, and they have 3 children, James, Faith, and Lucas.
