OKLAHOMA CITY - The Capitol Hill athletic department announced the hiring of Daniel Valdez as the new boys soccer head coach on Tuesday.

Coach Valdez is no stranger to Capitol Hill, having served as the varsity boys assistant coach during the 2026 season. Before joining the Red Wolves, he was an assistant coach at Deer Creek High School, where he helped guide the Antlers to a State Quarterfinal appearance.

A 2020 graduate of Deer Creek High School, Valdez was a standout defender who served as team captain while earning Conference Defender of the Year honors and All-State recognition.

Following high school, Valdez continued his playing career at Southern Nazarene University and Southwestern Christian University from 2020-2025. As a key member of the Southern Nazarene defense, he helped lead the Crimson Storm to back-to-back Great American Conference regular season championships in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, the Crimson Storm captured the Great American Conference Tournament Championship and earned the program’s first-ever NCAA National Tournament appearance.

“I’m excited for Coach Valdez as he steps into this new leadership role,” said Athletic Director Nick Pettit. “Dani is a proven winner with an outstanding knowledge of the game. More importantly, he understands the importance of developing young men of character while building a competitive program. His passion, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him the right person to lead our boys soccer program. The future is incredibly bright with Coach Valdez leading the Red Wolves.”
