OKLAHOMA CITY - The Capitol Hill athletic department announced the hiring of Charles Chatman as the new girls wrestling head coach on Thursday.
Chatman arrives at Hillside as a highly respected wrestling coach and athlete, recognized for his exceptional competitive background as a two-time college state placer and national qualifier. His commitment to excellence earned him accolades as a California State All-American and a two-time MVP, securing him a prestigious spot in the college Hall of Fame.
Prior to his arrival at Capitol Hill, Chatman successfully helped guide the Edmond North junior high boys' teams to consecutive back-to-back state championships during the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Additionally, he helped guide the Huskies' junior high girls teams to victory as State Champions in both the 2024 and 2025 seasons, achieving an impressive record of eight individual girl junior-high state champions and multiple placers. Under his assistance, he helped lead the Edmond North girls high school teams to remarkable success, finishing as Runners-Up in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, along with four individual high school State Champions and several state placers.
Coach Chatman holds a bachelor's degree in Recreational Management and an associate's degree in Social Behavioral Science. He is dedicated not only to the sport of wrestling, but also to the personal development of his athletes, emphasizing the values of perseverance, dedication, and sportsmanship. With a vibrant personality and a passion for youth development, Coach Chatman brings energy, positivity, and fun to every new group of young athletes. His natural ability to connect allows him to focus on building confidence, teamwork, and a genuine love for the sport, making each practice both meaningful and memorable. He remains actively involved in the community, inspiring the next generation of wrestlers and promoting a positive environment for all athletes.

Outside of coaching, Chatman is a proud father to his daughter, Nevaeh Chatman.
