OKLAHOMA CITY - The Capitol Hill athletic department announced the hiring of Mkwai Williams as the new boys wrestling head coach on Tuesday.

Bringing a wealth of knowledge with over 20 years of coaching experience, Williams is returning back to Capitol Hill to become the head boys wrestling coach.

In 2023-24, he served as the assistant wrestling and football coach for the Red Wolves. During that season, he was apart of coaching a girls wrestling state qualifier, who became the first girls state wrestling qualifier in Capitol Hill history.

Prior to that, Williams was the head junior high wrestling coach and assistant varsity coach for Edmond Memorial High School. He also coached football for the Bulldogs and helped the team to a State Semi-finals appearance.

During his eight years at Edmond Memorial, he coached two different 2-time State Champions, 3 State Runner-Ups, and numerous state placers and qualifiers on the wrestling mat. He also was a part of the Bulldogs 2022 dual wrestling State qualifying team.

"I am very excited to be back at Capitol Hill High School." said Williams in his introductory press conference. "My goal is to see each wrestler reach their full potential both mentally and physically on the mat. We also want to be a positive influence in the community. I can't wait to help establish a culture that is positive and attainable based on high intensity and toughness."
